Recently, generation of cavitation bubbles through acoustic waves has attracted many researchers owing to a broad range of applications, e.g. non-invasive therapeutic ultrasonic treatment of serious diseases (e.g. tumors, kidney stones), cavitation assisted chemical reaction (e.g. biodiesel production), and enhancement of mixing process, heat and mass transfer in multiphase flow. Hence, to further advance cavitation-based techniques, one of the current challenges is to thoroughly understand the response of cavitation bubbles to the acoustic waves. In this talk, some recent progress on this subject made by the author together with his collaborator has been summarized with a brief comment on their applications.

张宇宁，清华大学热能工程系本科，硕士，英国华威大学博士，英国曼彻斯特大学材料学院博士后。主要研究领域为空化和气泡动力学，水力机械，金属材料强化和X射线成像。已在ASME J. Heat Transf., Int. J. Heat Mass Transf.等国际期刊上发表第一作者论文八篇，另有两篇投稿中。应邀做学术报告三次，并担任Int. J. Heat Mass Transf.期刊的审稿人。曾获得多项奖励和荣誉，如“国家优秀自费留学生奖学金”，首届“吴仲华优秀学生奖”和“清华大学热能工程系学术新秀”称号等等。
